Wakaltnama is a proof document that you have appointed your Advocate. It is basically a document where the Party / Client gives their Advocate the authority of pleading, defending on their behalf. Despite, you can appoint as many Advocates as you require but, you will have to fill one Wakaltnama each.
The Format of Wakalatnama can be easily accessible from "कानून व्यवसायीको आचार संहिता, २०५१, अनुसुचि १ , नियम ९

Sample : How to Fill a Wakalatnama :
Note : You can only choose to use Black inked pen & all the letters is to be written in Nepali language. However, Case no. / मुद्दा नं. Could be an exception .
Following :
- Firstly, you must mention the court where the case is prejudice. Suppose You are appointing an Advocate for Kathmandu District Court then you have to write "काठमाण्डौँ जिल्ला अदालत"
- Mention the Year and Case no. , I suggest you to write the फाँट नं. Next to the Case no. as it reduces last moment hindrance,
- Here, "पक्ष" means You/Client/ Party, So you can simply write your Official name in Nepali eg., सुनिता घिमिरे
- "विपक्षी" means your opponent, so, you should also mention their name. eg., ससि विक्रम राणा
- Then, you must disclose what Case is prejudice before the Court eg., मुद्दा : अंश चलन
- Then after reading the paragraph you can figure out what to mention based on the sample picture. Further, you can choose from the category. Suppose you are appointing a Senior Advocate kindly tick on one
- There after, the most important part – You have to sign , put on your right finger thumb print and write your name just as the sample picture.
- Lastly, you will give your consent, so you have to mention your name and you could pass the wakalatnama to your Advocate and they will sign in the Bottom of the page. Incase you are a young Lawyer, you have to tick on the अधिवक्ता part, write your name, mention your License number and sign next to your Name.
Process of Filing a WAKALTNAMA IN Courts :
The practice might vary, however, the basics of filing a wakaltnama is listed below :
i. Firstly, get it Signed by you/ the Party & your Advocate, if you are seeking to register it in फाँट then you'll have to get it verified first,
ii. Secondly, go to the Bank situated within the Court and pay revenue rs. 10/- per wakaltnama,
iii. then, Register the wakaltnama again in the room where records are kept
iv. Get back to the same फाँट and you can give the person in charge the final documented wakaltnama where they will keep your document in the Case File / मिसिल ।
To Note - If you want to postpone a hearing with due reasons then, you must file a wakaltnama a day before. Often times, your request for postponing a hearing might be cancelled if the wakaltnama is filled in the same day.
